Toggenburg (Goat), Capra hircus
This glass blown goat head was sculpted in the hot shop. It is mostly coated in glass color, but has some highlights with oil paint and fox fur for its beard. Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species and the Toggenburg is the oldest registered breed dating back to the 1600's. I have always been attracted to goats with their peculiar eyes and funny mannerisms. I am also part goat as my sun and rising signs are in capricorn.

Bio
Creating with her hands and thinking abstractly from a young age has given Julia Rogers a variety of skills in art making. Her experience with art began with her father, an Argentine artist, who taught her how to draw and to think beyond the norm. Throughout her education each new art form that she encountered was intriguing. She found molten glass, her favorite material in 2001 and never looked back. She received her BFA with a focus in glass and sculpture from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Carbondale IL, in 2008 and her MFA from Bowling Green State University in May of 2010, also with an emphasis in glass and sculpture. Julia loves sharing her passion for glass making with others and has taught for Virginia Wesleyan University since 2014 and the Chrysler Museum of Art since 2011.
