Bio
Theo Keller was exposed to the America craft movement at an early age working in his
father’s ceramic studio in Maine. After studying art, photography and ceramics in high
school, he sought to explore his growing affinity for design through the medium of glass.
He has studied at the Penland School of Craft with several of the most sought after
practitioners of flameworked glass including Emilio Santini. In 1999 Theo moved to
Asheville NC to start his glass blowing blowing business and career. Using traditional
Italian glass blowing techniques, He created a body of contemporary glass work. In
2008 finding a real connection with a gritty midwest city Theo moved his glass studio to
Pittsburgh, PA. In his 22-year long career as a glass maker he has enjoyed the many
freedoms and challenges of running a successful glassblowing studio.
Some of his glassblowing endeavors have included working as the head glassblower at
the Center for Early American Crafts at Disney World, teaching at the Pittsburgh Glass
Center, designing and fabricating his original industrial designs and serving on the
board of directors for The Brewhouse Association. His work has twice been featured in
New Glass Review.
