Lightning Whelk

the primary image is based upon a photo that I took while beach-combing on the gulf coast of Florida. After returning home and researching my finds, I discovered that my photos were of an egg case of a Lightning Whelk. I was able to pair it with shells collected on a neighboring beach. Images of both the egg case and a shell are sandblasted and engraved using white cameo glass that is mounted on painted steel.
