This model is inspired by the cactus, night blooming cereus. The latin name is Echinopsis Scoullar.
These flowers bloom once a year for one night outside my house here in Florida.
The barrel cactus base is formed from copper and patined. The flowers and buds are lampworked with soft glass. The artist for the metalwork and the lampwork is me, Carolyn Baum.

Bio
Born in NYC where she was exposed to the cultural diversity the city has to offer, her interest in becoming part of the art community grew. She taught art at the Middle school level and upon retirement found the glass community at the Corning Museum of Glass Studio. There her excitement in learning and exploring the glass world started and has not diminished.
