pate de verre with flameworked inclusions inspired by and using the techniques of Japanese pate de verre glass masters Kimaki and Shin-ichi Higuchi as taught at the Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass. The pods were modeled on daylily pods that are outside my studio door. Daylilies are genus Hemerocallis of the plant family Hemeerocallidaceae and originate in Asia. The name is derived from the Greek words for "day" and "beauty. Each bloom lasts about 24 hours and then quickly becomes a seed pod. There may be many blooms and pods on a single stock.
