Glass Pate de Verre ( Eggshell thin technique) Created 2015
In the 19th century, the Art Nouveau era, very delicate pieces with walls as thin as eggshell were created by a technique which was invented by French artists. Since this technique was a family secret, it was not shown to the public and we have not known how these works were made. One day,I saw the L. Damnous vessel, "Iris", for the first time. I was attracted by its beauty and thinness, and looked up information about this type of piece. However, I couldn't find any articles which described the process of creating eggshell-thin vessels. I then began the challenge to discover and reproduce another Pate de Verre technique eggshell thin. By tryal and error I construct this technique. The work expresses typical spring senery in a counryside.
